Our First Day of School!

Good Afternoon!

We started off our morning by finding our cubbies and taking out our school supplies.  We made a big pile of school supplies on the table for Mrs. Greene to sort through.  We played with Play doh and colored our "O-fish-al" First Grader crowns.

We had morning meeting.  We started with a greeting, shared our favorite color, and then played "Just Like Me!" We also read our message for the day.

We read a book called First Day Jitters and graphed our feelings about coming to school.  Most of the students were "excited" to come to school, while others were happy and shy.

We learned how to make a first grade line and then went off have to P.E. with Ms. Clemons.

When we got back from P.E., we had a snack and listened to the read aloud The Recess Queen.  We got ready for lunch and recess.

This afternoon, we read a book called "The Colors of Us" and drew our first day of school portraits.  Then we did a Go Noodle and read the book "The First Day of First Grade" and filled in a mini book about our first day of school.

We had a second recess! And then we got to do some exploration with alphabet beads, dominoes, snap cubes, and pattern blocks.

We learned how to pack up and then waited for dismissal.  While waiting for dismissal, we caught a few minutes of The Wild Kratts!

Here are some pictures from the first day of school.

Dear First Grade Students and Families,

I hope you're enjoying the last bit of summer.  Today was our first "official" day back to work.  I have been working hard in the classroom getting it ready for the year! I am getting to know everyone by writing names on folders, nameplates, workbooks, book bins, birthday boards, and more!

I will be updating our classroom blog frequently throughout the school year.  Please bookmark this page and check back frequently.  I will post information about what we're learning and some pictures so you can see what it's like to spend a day in first grade!

Please feel free to reach out with any questions at kgreene@kitteryschools.com.

Looking forward to a great year!
